Die frühen Kirchenkonzilien als Kommunikationsgeschichte
Between 264-381 numerous synods were convened in relation to the Arian controversy. These synods have been chosen as the focal point of this thesis, which aims at determining the effects of communication on the theological development of the church in Late Antiquity. By examining the communicative processes surrounding these synods, it will be determined: how the presence, absence, and control of communication lines led to the triumph of Nicene-theology. In order to do so, GIS based maps will be created to track the transmission of this theological conflict, which will then be analyzed within the fields of communication history and network theory.
