The Origins of Ancient Greek Three-Dimensional Painting on Geometric, Archaic and Early Classical Pinakes (Topoi C-II)

The research project examines early Greek painting on Pinakes from the late geometric until the early classical period. This project aims to investigate the painting on Pinakes considering the resemblances to but also the differences from vase painting as well as the medium “Pinax” as such within a specific social context, regarding the fact that the function of images is related not least to their use.
