The State in Egypt (Topoi B-II-2)
Research group B-II-2 examined the structure and mechanisms of spatial organisation and management in the ancient Egyptian state. Research was confined to the time period between the Neolithic and the Early Middle Ages. The focus of this research group lay on the interaction between state institutions, regional administrations and local elites, in other words, on the clarification of the relation between state power, administrative elites and other levels of power such as villages and communes.
