Persuading the Divine: The Emergence and Development of Hittite Prayers
Lidewij van de Peut studied Assyriology at Leiden University, the Netherlands, with a special focus on the Akkadian and Hittite language. Her main interests include Hittite and Mesopotamian literature and religion. In her doctoral thesis she investigated how Hittite prayers were composed. Through careful textual, structural, and comparative analysis three related aspects are examined: the rhetorical function of prayers, the structure of the texts, and the extent to which older prayers have been reused to create new ones.
