New Testament Onomastics
A study of semantic qualities borne by the various personal names in the New Testament. It is a combination of prosopography and onomasticon, while ultimately seeking to develop an overarching semantic theory of New Testament names. It is a search for all “metadata” provided by the naming practices in late antiquity. Any epigraphic and literary information related to each New Testament name is listed lexigraphically, indicating, wherever possible, besides the literary context also information regarding provenance, social status, religion, and regional popularity.
