A study on orexis in Aristotle’s theory of action
This project aims to conduct a systematic study of Aristotle’s concept of orexis, spanning psychological, biological, and ethical fields. It seeks to reconcile the ambition to construct a cohesive framework with an awareness of the internal tensions inherent in Aristotelian thought, particularly those between psychology and ethics. The challenge ahead lies in fact in recovering the ethical reflections and attempting an interpretation of the psychological and biological works focused on their shared theoretical coordinates despite differences in subject and investigative methods.
