Contextualizing the Neolithic Culture of Kilimanjaro Region, Northern Tanzania

This study investigates the Neolithic landscape of the Kilimanjaro region, northern Tanzania, by examining settlement patterns, subsistence strategies, and material culture within their environmental context. Despite evidence of Neolithic occupation, the southern slopes remain poorly explored, and the region lacks a robust chronological framework. Through archaeological survey, excavation, stratigraphic analysis, and radiocarbon dating, the study will reconstruct Neolithic settlement organization and human environment interactions, providing new insights into the development of early farming and pastoral lifeways in East Africa.
